The client’s objective was to create a holiday rental accommodation service which carefully and sensitively places self-sufficient temporary dwellings, designed by invited architects, in unexpected and breathtaking locations. The inaugural project designed by Emulsion is a demountable structure that has a habitable multi-functional core with a glowing exterior, wrapped around by a lattice of woven willow.  The inspiration was the simple idea of a lantern acting as a gentle beacon which can sit sensitively in the landscape, creating a very serene and beautiful place to stay in any setting.
